Aniyah is an 11-year-old from Hampton Roads, Virginia, who dreams of becoming an engineer. She’s curious about how bridges are built, fascinated by the gears inside clocks, and loves solving puzzles. But like many students from under-resourced families, Aniyah faces challenges that could make her pathway to a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) career difficult.
Her parents work hard to provide for her, but they struggle to afford the enrichment programs that could help her build the math confidence she needs to turn her curiosity into a career. Without access to quality math tutoring or exposure to STEAM role models, Aniyah risks losing the spark that could light the way to her future.
But there’s hope—for Aniyah and countless others like her.
The Transformative Power of Cultured for STEAM
At Cultured for College Camps, Inc., we believe students like Aniyah deserve every opportunity to thrive. That’s why we’ve created the Cultured for STEAM Initiative, a scholarship program that provides personalized math tutoring, college and career workshops, and STEAM career exposure to students from low-income families.
Research shows that math confidence is one of the strongest predictors of post-secondary enrollment and success. Students who build confidence in math not only perform better in school but also open doors to STEAM pathways that lead to fulfilling careers. For first-generation and low-income students, this confidence is transformative—it helps break cycles of intergenerational poverty, reduces the risk of disengagement from school, and fosters a positive career identity.
With a scholarship to our initiative, Aniyah would receive:
Math Tutoring through our partnership with Mathnasium, helping her master critical skills and build confidence.
STEAM Enrichment Activities that show her how math connects to exciting fields like engineering, technology, and robotics.
Mentorship Opportunities with STEAM professionals who can inspire her to dream bigger and see herself in careers she once thought were out of reach.
Your Role in Aniyah’s Journey
Aniyah’s story isn’t unique—there are many children in our community and beyond who need a little help to reach their full potential. By donating to the Cultured for STEAM Initiative, you can ensure that students like Aniyah have access to the resources and support they need to thrive.
